Your Pit Bull is full of love and energy… and you’ve for to put that energy somewhere. Failure to keep your big, fuzzy friend amused is a mistake that your dog will likely take out on your shoes and your furniture (especially if your Pit is just a pup!). The biggest problem is finding something solid enough and amusing enough that it will keep your dog’s attention, so in today’s article we are going to discuss some of our favorite’ indestructible’ dog toys for Pit Bulls in order to give you a better idea of some of the options out there. A little forethought can save a lot of shoes, so let’s get started!
Let’s clear something up first… Not all Pit Bulls are the same!
You know, you’d really think that with all of the alarmist media attention that Pit Bulls receive that everyone would be able to identify a Pit Bull immediately. Of course that is not the case, because ‘Pit Bull’ is not a single breed, but rather 4 specific ones which are similar but can look an act quite differently. For those of you who are not aware, the 4 breeds spanning the ‘Pit Bull’ category are as follows:
- American Bulldog
- American Pit Bull Terrier
- American Staffordshire Terrier
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Included in these 4 breeds are a number of variations, such as the Rednose and Bluenose Bulls and a number of popular mixes. There is so much more to ‘Pit Bulls’ than the media hype, folks.
If a Pit Bull toy is not durable, it won’t last out the day
Now that we’ve had our ‘soapbox moment’ let’s talk about the importance of selecting the right toy for your little Bully. While the news about their ferocity is usually just there to ‘sell scares’ the news is right about one thing. A Pit Bull has some pretty serious biting power. That means that your cuddly protector is going to be HARD on toys and that can get really expensive if you don’t know how to pick them right. Thankfully, as promised, we’ve collected some of our favorites to share with you which your Bully will not only love but which will last a very long time before needing to be replaced. Let’s take a look and see what you think!
Kong Extreme dog toy
Our first entry is a classic that you might already be familiar with, but if you are not, then both you and your dog are in for a treat. The Kong toy is a design that has been around for a very long time due to the simple fact that dogs (all dogs, in fact) LOVE them. The reasons for this are many. First, the rubber formula which Kong uses in order to create the toy makes it extremely resistant to chewing, while still providing a surface which your dog will try their darndest to chew through. Secondly, the Kong includes a hollow inside it which can be filled with the treat of your choice. One favorite trick for many dog owners is to fill it with peanut butter, freeze it, and then give it to their happy dog who will spend a long time licking and chewing to get at that peanut butter. It’s also good for fetch games, as the Kong’s irregular shape leads to amusing bounces and if there is even a remote chance that a treat might be inside then your doggy is going to chase it. If you only try one toy from this list, the Kong comes highly recommended.
Jolly Pets Romp and Roll rope & ball toy
Our next entry is a ball that can take a beating. The Jolly Pets Romp and Roll ball comes as you see, with a tether attachment on both sides, which means that you can throw it and let your dog knock it about
“Two tethers for a little game of ‘Tug of War’”
until they decide to utilize the ropes and bring it right back to you. It also floats, which makes for a little Spring and Summer fun if you have access to a pool or a nearby river, or you can simply take advantage of the two tethers for a little game of ‘Tug of War’ although if you have two dogs then that’s a game you’ll have to wait to participate in, because they are going to LOVE this toy!
Goughnuts Original dog toy
We’ve saved the best for last and this one toy that definitely fits the definition of ‘durable’. The Goughnuts Original dog toy is a big, yellow doughnut that your dog can chew on all they like but probably won’t manage to put a dent into. The company is so sure of it, in fact, that they have designed this toy with an inner red layer. If your dog is able to chew through the outer yellow layer and reach the red inside then the manufacturer will replace your Goughnut FREE of charge. That’s the kind of dedication which you can really get behind, no? So if you are tired of your Bully chewing through every new toy in minutes or if you simply have a new pup and want to start off right with a toy that really is close to indestructible, then you have to go no further than Goughnuts. Give it a try and you’ll see!
